The Medical Language Of St. Luke (1882) ReviewIf you're a serious student of the Bible, or want to be, it's necessary to understand a few things about the origin of the book and about those who wrote it. The Bible states that all scripture was given by "inspiration of God" (2 Timothy 3:16)and put into written form by "holy men of God" as they were moved by Him (2 Peter 1:21). Each writer consequently wrote what he was instructed to write using his own vernacular and thus each book of the Bible is different in terms of the style of writing and the vocabulary used.
Since Luke was a physician by trade, it's only logical that the two books he wrote, the Gospel of Luke and Acts, contain words and figures of speech that are medical in origin. An understanding of these words can shed light on many of the concepts and events related by this great man of God.
