This is an important contribution by an eminent scholar to the study of an influential poet who is difficult to find in solid English translation. I wish Helgerson had been able to get to L'Olive -- but am so grateful for all his work on the Antiquities of Rome and Regrets. The Regrets, by the way, are beautiful.
